Tillandsia. Paul T. IsleyThis book is worn and has a library number on the spine. The lady i bought it off was gifted it from a friend in Belize botanic garden. There is writting and a stamp on the inside cover of the book. There is a slight water mark on edges of a few pages at the very back and front of the book. Otherwise all the pages are clean. Probably the most famous and best book on Tillandsia with wonderful colour photographs. Botanical, cultural and historical

A very interesting little plant with stiff leaves to a point

It is a famous hybrid created by Chester Skotak

It grows along a stem (caulescent) similar to T

dark red/maroon leaves with Emerald green/yellow spotting

Bolivia and Argentina

It is know amongst enthusiasts as 'The mad pupper' due to the fact that it constantly produces 'pups' or offsets along its stem and so quickly grows into large sometimes very large clumps

There are many many sub-species and varieties of ionantha

It has black leaf bases and markings and colors up the most beautiful pinks and purples and has pink flowers that fade to purple

especially in the evenings

it can take bright light

Care is the same as for the Neoregelia's

the flower spike is elaborate with pink primary bracts and bright green flower bracts with contrasting purple flowers
