Description
Bruno Clair, Morey Saint Denis Rue Vergy Rouge Vintage:2021(from a . 65 ha parcel planted in 1980 that sits directly above Clos de Tart). An ultra fresh, cool and airy nose presents an array of various dark berries and floral elements. I very much like the sense of underlying tension and minerality on the delineated middle weight flavors that terminate in an overtly austere, firm and linear finish. This is also going to require at least a few years to further flesh out and shed the austerity.
but the plummy fruit and spicy wood appear to be nicely integrated
round and soft
I wasn't a fan of Barolo before tasting this wine
(from 3 different parcels that total 2 ha)
blackberry and licorice
cedar chest and tobacco notes begin to emerge
dominated by tart
comparing it to the 2017 it does not quite have the same tension and mineralité
but they are a bit more stylish on the tightly wound
This will need to develop more depth to merit the top of the range but the underlying material is certainly present such that it could occur
Alta Mesa vineyard (Santa Barbara County)
giving the wine the right amount of freshness and sweetness to make it fun to taste today
