Turn and Bank Indicator, (Wendezeiger) Luftwaffe, Fl 22402, Pneumatic AllisonThis is a fine example of an early WWII era German Wendezeiger (Turn and Bank) Fl 22402, as used in aircraft of the Luftwaffe, such as the Bf 109, Me 110, and Ju 87. Measures ~3 inches diameter and 5 inches deep. The glass and face markings are intact, as is the floating ball within the bank indicator.

Accompanying the Gyro is a small pouch containing "Parts for Installation"

The aircraft from which this instrument was removed appears to have had an upper operating limit of 2800 RPM judging from the limit markings in thin red tape that have been applied upon the numerical scale beneath the glass

This type of gauge was the primary tool used to lean the large radial engines in service late in the piston-powered aircraft era

There is no noticeable swing or waver

Imagine you are a 22 yr old Soviet artillery officer under pressure from your Soviet General (with the political officer looking over your shoulder) while trying to use this device to determine critical mathematical calculations and avoid the consequences of friendly fire on your front-line comrades (not that the political officer cared about that)
