Description
Lokoya, Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage:2014Credit high elevation grape growing for this tightly wound, almost brooding wine under which lurks succulent, vibrant wild berry fruit and lively acidity to match. Impeccably balanced for its size, it still begs for cellaring for at least five years, as well as decanting. Still, it's the most approachable of the four Lokoya Cabs from the mountains.
The 2013 Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda sees fruit sourced from the middle part of the Castelletto vineyard where there is a mix of lighter
with extraordinary concentration
there is good underlying material and my predicted range accords the benefit of the doubt that more will be forthcoming
Nevertheless
Shows a slightly roasted quality but also terrific energy and lift to the rather brooding aromas of dark berries
warm earth and a hint of leather
The palate is round but with a fresh
An earthy and notably spicy dark berry fruit nose trimmed in discreet oak tones merges into rich and sappy flavors that are rich
I was frankly shocked to find that the aromatic profile here was even more elegant and arguably finer than that of the Amoureuses with its bright red and blue pinot fruit
there is a great balance of structure
On the palate this is almost a blend of the Genevrières and Perrières as there is some of each attribute on the middleweight flavors including minerality
