Ribes speciosum 'Rana Creek'Fuchsia Flowered Gooseberry: Wickedly spiny CA native shrub with small leaves arching stems reaching 4 6' tall. Deciduous, but leaves persist on the shrub longer when given regular water. 'Rana Creek' is a particularly nice selection. Bright red pendent flowers in winter to early spring. Full sun to part shade. Medium to high water. Seacoast, wind, clay, sand, heat and drought tolerant once established. Deer, rabbit, gopher and fire resistant.
