The ovate leaves are a deep, glossy green, setting off the flowers beautifully. In April and May, compact, rounded heads, 2 3 6 8cm long, of bright blue flowers cover the plant, and look wonderful with yellow narcissus; the flowers are attractive to bees and early butterflies.
