Brahms - Variations on a Theme by Haydn for Horn & PianoThe Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Op. 56, one of Brahms' greatest creations was written and premiered in 1873. It consists of a theme and eight variations, plus a grand finale. It was written in two forms, one for two pianos and the more well known orchestral version. There is a musicological controversy as to whether the theme is actually from the pen of Haydn or another mystery composer. Some are now referring to it as the Saint Anthony

They are about 30-40 seconds in length each and appropriate for moderately advanced performers and have the following instrumentation:

Piece in F minor

Cello and Bass

This version with Piano is a reduction of the full Orchestral version (to be published in the near future)
