"Back Fences (Provincetown)" by Mabel Hewit, Amer., (1903-1984) Woodcut His career as an artistLithograph, 1930's 40's, ed. unknown but small, 7 3 4 x 11 1 4, signed & titled in pencil, on warm white BFK paper. Light trace of mat line. Hewit was a modernist painter and printmaker based in Ohio who spent time in Provincetown and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy. Her white line color woodcuts were showcased recently in an exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
