Radio Compass Indicator, I-65-D, of SCR-280-A Radio System, Signal Corps US Army, NOS Piasecki The Elevator dial lens canThe Pilots Radio Compass Indicator, I 65 D, was a component of the SCR 280 A Radio Compass System, as used in early versions of the WWII era Air Corps US Army Douglas C 47 Skytrain transport, according to the US Air Service Command's Airborne Radio Equipment Handbook dated 1943. This indicator was manufactured before WWII, in November 1940. The radio compass, receiving ground signal from a selected transmitter via its loop antenna mounted top or
