The tannins have more softeners and polish that I usually detect in their wine

At the same time in keeping with its having been harvested immediately after significant rainfall there isnt the focused sense of concentration that applies to this years Scharzhofberg Spätlesen or to a more typical Müller Kabinett

slightly atypical sense of levity and delicacy that I find delightful

Magrez Fombrauge Vintage:2003 Medium/full bodiedI would have given this wine a slightly higher rating but the new oak has been pushed to the limit. Along with the toasty vanillin characteristics, the wine exhibits notes of graphite and black cherry liqueur, medium to full body, and impressive purity as well as elegance. It does not have the size of the 2003, but it is concentrated and successful for a right bank 2002. Drink it over the next 8 10 years.
